Do you have a traffic ticket that is returnable to the Old Westbury Village Court? If so, contact the Law Office of David Galison, P.C. today for a free consultation. During a brief phone call we will inform you of the number of points that you are charged with based on the moving violation that you received a ticket for, the anticipated outcome if you retain our office to fight the ticket, and what our legal fee will be.
If you have received a traffic ticket for a moving violation it most likely has points associated with it. Depending on the violation it may carry with it as few as two points or as many as 11 points. We are well versed in defending tickets for moving violations and knowledgeable about the number of points that will appear on your driver’s record for each violation.
Points on your driver’s license may lead to increased insurance premiums. In addition, if you accumulate six or more points on your driving record within an 18 month period you will be subject to the driver responsibility assessment, which is a fee that you must pay to the NYS DMV over a three year period. This fee is in addition to any fines, penalties or surcharges owed to the court for a traffic conviction. The annual assessment is $100, making the total assessment for the three years $300. If you receive more than six points on your driving record within an 18 month period, you must pay $25 for each point in addition to the original six points. The total assessment for the three years is $75 for each point over six points. If you fail to pay the assessment fee the DMV will suspended your driver’s license. If you receive more than ten points on your driving record within an 18 month period your license may be revoked by the DMV. Points are calculated by the date you received the violation, not the date of the conviction.
Our office routinely appears at the Old Westbury Village Court. We strive to have traffic tickets reduced to nonmoving violations that do not have points associated with them whenever possible. Call us today to find out how what we can do to fight your traffic ticket. Often times, with a properly signed and notarized authorization we can appear in court on your behalf without your presence being necessary. This saves you time and money from having to miss work and other important obligations.
