If you receive more than ten points on your license during an 18-month period your driver’s license may be revoked by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. You also risk having your license revoked by the NYS DMV if you are plead guilty to or are convicted of Speeding three times within an 18-month period.
If you receive six or more points on your license during an 18-month period you will be subject to the NYS DMV Driver Responsibility Assessment Fee. The fee is $100 a year for three years once you receive six points on your license. The DMV charges you an additional $25 per year for three years for each point over six points that you receive during the 18-month period. This assessment fee to the DMV is separate and apart from any court fines imposed as a result of a traffic conviction.
