Have you received a Red Light ticket in Nassau County? If so, contact the Law Office of David Galison, P.C. today. Our attorneys routinely fight tickets issued by police officers to motorists for Failure to Stop at a Steady Right Light. If you plead guilty to or are convicted after trial of Failing to Stop at a Red Light in violation of VTL Section 1172.A you will receive three (3) points on your driver’s license and will be subject to a fine up to $150 plus surcharges. If you receive six or more points on your driver’s license during an 18-month period you may be subject to the driver responsibility assessment imposed by the DMV. The driver responsibility assessment is a fee that you must pay to the DMV over a three year period. The annual assessment is $100, making the total assessment for the three years $300. If you receive more than six points on your driver’s license during an 18-month period, the annual assessment is $25 for each point in addition to the original six points. Therefore, for each point you receive over six points the total assessment for the three years is $75 per point. If you receive more than ten points on your driving record within an 18-month period your license may be revoked. Additionally, points on your driver’s license you lead to an increase in your auto insurance premium.
Given the possible repercussions of pleading guilty to a Red Light ticket it is important that you hire an attorney who will fight hard on your behalf to eliminate or reduce the number of points you receive. Our office has extensive success in getting Red Light tickets reduced to no point, nonmoving violations. Call us today to find out how we can help you. Often times we can appear in court on your behalf without your presence being necessary, saving you time away from family, work and other important obligations. Our goal is to make the process as easy as possible for our clients. You simply provide us with a copy of the ticket, sign an authorization that allows us to handle the ticket on your behalf, provide us with the retainer fee and then we take it from there. Simple, easy and convenient.
Please note that our office does not fight Red Light camera tickets. We fight Red Light tickets issued to a motorist by a police officer.
Traffic lights alternate the right of way accorded to users by illuminating lamps or LEDS of standard colors (red, yellow and green) following a universal color code. The green light allows traffic to proceed in the direction denoted, if it is safe to do so and there is room on the other side of the intersection. The yellow light warns that the signal is about to change to red and is an indicator to motorists that they should slow down. The red signal prohibits any traffic from proceeding. Motorists must stop at a red traffic signal.
